Magical Fact

The first large-scale production, purpose-built drone was the product of Reginald Denny, who served with the British Royal Flying Corps during World War I. After the war, in 1919, he emigrated to the US and made a name for himself as an actor, and between acting jobs, pursued his interest in radio control model aircraft in the 1930s. Denny sold 15,000 RC target drones to the US military to train anti-aircraft gunners for World War II.
